Parkroyal Penang Resort

As we stepped into the Parkroyal Penang Resort lobby, one look around and we could tell this was a true tropical resort. Rotating fans hung from the multi story high ceilings over the long reception counter and lobby lounge, while the view of the large blue pool, gardens and ocean past the reception was mesmerizing. This is exactly how a resort should be.

No resort holiday is complete without a buffet breakfast. The included buffet breakfast at the Parkroyal is served in the Tamarind Brasserie and includes a nice selection of fruit, pastries, french toast, eggs, Malay dishes, and freshly squeezed carrot and cucumber juice. With garden and ocean views, it’s a wonderful way to start the day.

The calling of the free form pool and sea is too hard to resist. The loungers around the pool and sea facing are filled with vacationers relaxing in paradise. Maybe the reason why they are so relaxed is because their kids are being happily occupied on one of the water-slides or in the Koko-nut Kids Klub. The children’s club which is free of charge for children aged 4 to 12 years old, has daily activities like painting and crafts while babysitting services are available for a minimal charge.

While the kids are playing, adults are free to enjoy the beach front bar, a game of tennis, a variety of water sports or a foot massage in one of massage huts. Moms and daughters can enjoy massage treatments in the St. Gregory spa where they not only have luxuries spa treatments, they also offer treatments tailored to children like a chocolate mask.

The lobby lounge is the ideal location to spend an evening reclined in one of the multiple seating areas while musicians entertain until late into the night. The large bar at the end of the lounge surrounded by bar stools, invites guests to pull up a seat and spend the evening mingling.

Grand Delux Sea View

We stayed in a Grand Deluxe Seaview Room, where the highlight is the private balcony with beautiful sea views. The room was in need of an upgrade and we are really glad to hear they will be upgrading the hotel at the end of 2012. Other room options include hill facing rooms and a variety of large suites perfect for families.
