Like many other people out there, I find it really hard to get back into my exercise regime after a vacation. I worked out 6 days a week getting ready for an upcoming beach vacation and was determined to go right back into my schedule when I got back. I decided the best way to keep my routine going was to continue working out throughout my vacation. I kept some of my usual routine and mixed in some more fun ways to stay fit while on a vacation. Here are my tips on fun ways to stay fit while on vacation.
Kayaking
Ditch the temptation to rent a jet ski at the beach and opt for the much more fulfilling and fun way to explore your tropical getaway. Kayaking not only works out your arms, you will also work your back, shoulders and abdominal muscles. Sea kayaking in tranquil waters doesn't require any lessons or special equipment, just leave the rough seas to the professionals. An easy kayaking trip I recommend is in Koh Tao, Thailand. You can leave from the end of Sai Ri beach to the nearby island of Koh Nang Yuan. It is only 30 minutes away by kayak, and you can spend the day on the island lounging on the sand or under water looking at all of the amazing fish and coral.
Walking Barefoot In The Sand
There is no easier way to burn calories while on a beach vacation than walking barefoot in the sand, there is no additional equipment required. By avoiding the smooth sand wet by the water and walking in the dry wavy sand you will burn even more calories and work the muscles in your feet and calves. As if burning calories while exploring wasn't enough, you will also be exfoliating your feet as you walk in the sand. To cool off, walk in the water, where the resistance of the water will help you burn more calories.
Surfing
You don't have to be a professional surfer to enjoy this sport, many vacation spots offer surf lessons specifically for beginners. Although it takes some time to get really good at surfing, beginners will still be working their arms, mostly shoulders and triceps as they paddle for the waves and once you can stand and balance on your board you will be working out your core, as well as different leg and back muscles as you get on your board and turn in the waves. Not bad for a fun water sport, just don't forget the sunscreen!
Amazing snorkelling at Koh Nang Yuan!
Yeah, and kayaking to go snorkeling is a great way to get more exercise in.
