This city is known in part for its colonial and art deco architecture; in fact, it was referred to as the “Paris of Java” during Dutch colonial times due to its European ambiance and resemblance to the French capital. Nowadays, Bandung is also known for its tea plantations; its lively, youthful vibe (Bandung is a university town); and, thanks to the city’s high elevation, its relatively cool weather.
