Bo.Lan – A Thai Fine Dining Experience

If you find yourself in Bangkok, craving to taste a variety of superb Thai food, but really don't want to decide on what to order, give the much raved about Bo.lan a try. All you have to decide on when you arrive at Bo.lan is whether to go for the full degustation menu, the Bo.lan Balance, or the smaller version, Bo.lan Brife. If you want to leave your selection of drinks to the experts as well, choose from a wine, cocktail or craft beer pairing to go with your meal. It's all really that easy. [Note: Bo.Lan recently changed up their menu so check ahead on their current offerings - May 2016]

With only a 300 THB difference between the two degustation menus, my husband and I opted for the larger menu, Bo.lan balance. Our meal started with snacks of unique looking edamame,  Thai style rice crispies (ok, a little more complex than that) and other Thai snacks.

Next, placed before us was a small martini glass filled with Thai whiskey that we were recommended to shoot, then chase with pandan water. Now this is our kind of party.

Over the next few courses, a selection of small dishes to larger sharing portions were brought to our table. All presented exquisitely with the occasional chilli pepper or pandan leaf for colour.  Even at medium heat, the hidden chillies bit back, which we considered to be all part of the fun of enjoying Thai food.

After enjoying a variety of flavours, textures and spices, our meal ended with a display of local cakes and sweets. As the heat subsided, we reflected on our journey of sophisticated Thai food delivered in an ambiance to match.
