Exclusive Kitchen Table Hosting at Sheraton Bali Kuta

For an exclusive culinary experience, nothing beats dining at the Chef’s Table. At Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort we had the pleasure of attending the first Kitchen Table hosted by Rossano Renzelli, Executive Chef of Sheraton Bali Kuta.

This is a rare opportunity for guests to visit the inner sanctum of the Executive Chef and enjoy an evening of memorable experiences, tastes and conversations with the Executive Chef.

Kitchen Table includes a guided tour around the kitchen by the Executive Chef, allowing guests to get an insight into how the kitchen is being run behind the scenes.

Guests get to enjoy some champagne and interesting hors d’oeuvres during the guided tour.

Besides touring around the kitchen, Executive Chef Rossano Renzelli also shared his insights in food from the detail in marinating fresh meats to the level of precision for every single cut.

Guests would love to see how chocolate desserts are made in the Dessert Room. From tempering the chocolate to make create a smooth taste and shiny finish.

After the tour, it’s time for dinner. Kitchen Table offers a customised multi-course menu specially created by the chef and is not offered on the restaurant menu with specially selected wines to complement the meal.

We started off with freshly made bread that’s still warm to touch with olive oil and herb dip.

We also served with white wine presented in a red pepper which added an interesting taste of spice to the drink.

We ended the evening with more alcohol, DIY-style. We were presented with buckets of alcohol and blended flavours like basil and mint leaves frozen in ice cubes. We poured as much alcohol we wanted along with ice cubes of flavours, and mix them with a stirrer to create our own cocktails.

Here is the multi-course menu that was served in the first Kitchen Table along with some souvenirs to remember the event.

Unlike most fine dining meals, everyone walked away full and amazed by how wonderful the meal was. We can’t guarantee if you will be able to get a chance to attend the Kitchen Table by Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort, but if you do get that golden ticket, we are sure that you will have an amazing time.

For many, Brunch is the only reason to wake up earlier on a lazy Sunday. If you are in Kuta, Bali for the weekend, you should check out the newly launched Market Brunch offered by Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort every Sunday.

The first thing about Market Brunch, is the level of child-friendliness. Seafood on the Beach in Jimbaran, Bali

Seafood on the beach in Jimbaran Bali

For the freshest seafood at the best prices for waterfront dining, there is no place better in Bali than the famous strip of restaurants located along Jimbaran beach. Here you can watch the sun set, dig your toes in the sand and enjoy a feast of seafood  all for a very reasonable price. Walk right up to the fish tanks and choose what you would like for dinner. Select from a variety of fish and crustaceans mostly caught by Jimbaran’s fisherman and picked up that morning at the fish market. All sold by weight, it is worth asking and bargaining on the prices before deciding on a restaurant.

There are three sections of beach all lined with restaurants, Muaya (in the very south), Kedonganan (in the middle) and Kelan (north of the fish market). If arriving by taxi or driver, they will always drop you off in the middle where the driver receives a commission and the prices are higher unless you really insist otherwise. Muaya beach (closest to Four Seasons and right in front of Le Meridian) is known to have the best prices.

All seafood is barbecued over coconut husks instead of charcoal and comes with cooked local greens and steamed white rice. Choose to have your fish deep fried or barbecued.  While all seafood is cooked with local spices and you can ask to have the spiciness varied to your liking. The clams come in an amazing sauce with a bit of spice, but are a definite must try.

Seafood on the Beach in Jimbaran, Bali Indoesia

We met friends at Pandan Sari Cafe. The restaurant at the end of Muaya beach, closest to Four Seasons. We ended up with a feast of big clams for RP 80,000 a kg talked down to 40,000 a kg, red snapper for RP 120,000 a kg and small prawns for RP 200,000 a kg. The total bill came to RP 550,000 and was enough to feed 5 of us until we were full.

Enjoy a Bintang or fresh coconut with your meal. If you want wine, bring it with you and pay a nominal corkage charge. Then all that is left to do is relax and listen to the roving mariachi band.

De Opera Beach Club

De Opera Beach Club Nusa Dua Bali

Recently opened De Opera Beach Club offers new dining and lounging options for visitors staying in the Nusa Dua area. A beach club by day and dining destination at night with 3 restaurants to choose from. Two of the restaurants offer Japanese cuisine including the famous Japanese teppanyaki restaurant company BENIHANA. Here diners enjoy their own personal chef in a choice of private cabana style seating or inside the restaurant. Something that looks like a lot of fun.

De Opera Beach Club Nusa Dua Bali Thai Restaurant

During our visit for a late lunch we found an oversized daybed looking over the pool and tried out their Thai restaurant. With a variety of Thai curries, seafood and meat mains, and lots of appetisers, we opted for Kanom Pang Na Goong (deep fried minced prawn on toast RP 63,000) to start and Prawn Kaeng Pra Naeng (dry prawn curry RP 85,000) and Nua Kra Tiem Prik Thai (stir fried beef with garlic and pepper sauce RP 98,000) for our mains.

Each dish was wonderful. Beautifully presented, high quality ingredients and most importantly great tasting. We later heard a Thai chef talking to another table which explains the great Thai food.

De Opera Beach Club Nusa Dua Bali

With a big pool at the centre of the beach club beckoning us to make use of it, we spent the next couple hours sipping cocktails, mocktails and dipping in the pool. With a minimum spend of RP 150,000 per person, use of the pool is complementary and includes the use of towels.

Even though De Opera wasn’t busy during the day, it allowed us to have our choice of the best spots and the staff assured us the traffic picks up at night for dinner. Still a great way to spend the afternoon.

Ku De Ta Bali Review

For one of the trendiest spots in town look no further then Ku De Ta! Located right along Seminyak beach with plenty of open air seating, some of the best cocktails ever tasted, and a house DJ dropping beats you’ll find it hard to peal yourself away from this place!

Ku De Ta Bali Restaurant Review

We headed to Ku De Ta mid week to watch the sunset and see what all the hype was about, after walking around the venue and seeing the various designs of the restaurant and bars I was immediately impressed. It’s got a cool laid back vibe that lets you know you’re at one of Bali’s top spots. While you’re here just decide which decor is calling your name (each section has a different theme) settle in and just enjoy the people watching and spectacular Bali sunsets! Make sure you don’t miss out on one of there top notch cocktails. The menu is so extensive you’d be hard done by to only try one! I suggest the KDT Espresso a great pick me up cocktail for the coffee lovers. It came artfully displayed with whip-cream on top and a wonderful piece of dark chocolate!

Giorgio Italian Cuisine Benoa, Bali

Giorgio Italian Cuisine Tanjong Benoa

For delicious Italian Cuisine in Tanjung Benoa, Giorgio Italian Cuisine in Aston Bali Resort is a must. The prices are excellent, as is the food. We enjoyed the goat cheese tortellini served with pine nuts and raisins, the mixture of flavors were incredible; mushroom and chicken lasagna with white sauce, with probably the best white sauce I’ve ever tried; then deep fried zucchini with garlic cream sauce as a side. The complementary bread and bread sticks are also a nice touch.

Mojo’s Flying Burritos Bali

Mojo’s Flying Burritos has a few locations around Bali, including the location we visited in Seminyak off of Jalan Petitenget. This literal burrito shack found down a dodgy alley way, is well worth searching for as the California style burritos are delicious. You can choose what type of meat and toppings you would like, or go veggie. To wash your burrito down, sip on a glass of sangria and listen to the oldies and Mexican music playing in the background. Prices are reasonable with burritos at 35 – 45,000 rp and sangria starting at 25,000 rp a glass.

Their menu is a mixture of Western and Indonesian. During our visit we were in the mood for Indonesian cuisine, so we tried the Beef rendang (Indonesian Beef Curry/Stew) and Mie Goreng (fried noodles). Both delicious, and reasonably priced for such a beautiful restaurant.
