The world’s last remaining Buddhist Kingdom, Bhutan, is welcoming a new addition to their selection of accommodation with the opening of the 24-suite boutique resort, Dhensa Punakha. The resort opening in March 2014 is set in the heart of Bhutan’s verdant and lush Punakha Valley. They invite guests to revive their senses with purposely understated rooms, nourishing food and time to re-discover nature with a quiet trek, a mid-morning picnic or an afternoon session with an artisan.
Getting To The Resort
Dhensa Punakha is located in the Punakha Valley, just a two-hour drive from the capital, Thimphu. On arrival at Bhutan’s international airport in Paro, Dhensa will arrange for your journey to Thimpu, a one-hour car journey, to see the sights and experience life in Bhutan’s capital before transferring you to the Punakha Valley and Dhensa Punakha (a two-hour drive) the following day.
How To Get To Bhutan
Visitors to Bhutan must book through a travel agent or tour operator. Druk Air (www.drukair.com.bt) flies to Paro Valley from Singapore, Delhi, Kathmandu, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangkok. Dhensa Punakha provides complimentary arrival and departure transfers to and from Paro International Airport.
All visitors to Bhutan apart from Indian nationals require visa. The travel agent or tour operator can advise accordingly on the necessary requirements.
