Mention Cuba, and most people will think of restored classic American cars. During a last-minute week long visit to Cuba, we quickly found out the cars aren't the only things that are old in Cuba. A walk through Havana, and it's as though time has stood still. Beautifully restored buildings line the main tourist area, while away from foreigner eyes lie simply run down old buildings. No concrete high-rises in sight.
Old or not, there is something magical about the city. A fusion of cultures and a contrast of traditional methods with the occasional injection of modern life. If only they could import new mattresses for the hotels, it's one thing that is not charming when old.
